Brave is the new Black

I was subtly reminded the other day just when I was digging out the weeee  last little bit of glorious color from one of my favorite lipstick as I flipped it over and noticed the name of it — that the word brave can mean many things. I smiled at myself because at that exact moment it meant to me that I had to put on my big girl pants and go get the job done, regardless if I felt like it or not, I had to be my version of brave. The brave woman would thank me later….she always does!

BRAVE

Such a bold, strong word.  💪  Sometimes it partners with funny, sexy and inspiring. At times though, it can  partner with sadness, loneliness and the ugly stuff —  that’s when we don’t always give ourselves the credit for the feeling.

The credit we should for finding a way to deal with whatever it is we are going through at the time. To listen in, to cry, to feel the emotion – that can be tough and deserves to be recognized.Sometimes being brave is letting it all out, letting it go, being true to how you are actually feeling.

Everyone has something, no matter how glamorous the social media reel may look – remember that. You are not alone, even though you may feel like it at times. Your words, how you dealt with hardships and stories mean things and are important.

Your version can truly help another person in the most beautiful way.

You are brave in your own way, every single day. Now, off to replace that lipstick, I have used all of my creativity up trying to get the last drop out! (I know I am not alone here!!!) 😍

Thanks so much for stopping by and reading!

When Is The Last Time You Went ALL In?

Recently, I launched a passion project with two other beauties that has been on my heart after a #gno – girls night out in the summer of 2017.  Actually, when I think about it, the concept stems back to a couple of years ago when I was working with an incredible mentor –   how it actually played out, I would have never seen coming.

Be The One Who Decided To Go For It

It was a hot summer night and I happened to be in the Boston area for an event. It just so happened that our schedules worked out and the girls and I met up, drank a bit, chatted about life and left thinking just how bad ass one another is. All three of us, very different, but the stories we shared were the, “yeah, that’s awesome, OMG – no way” ones. You know the ones you share when girlfriends meet up for a night out and leave feeling so inspired by one another and just honored to be in such great company.  Those ones.

A few months passed after that evening and the three of us often had a reference that we would text to one another every now and then while we were checking in with each other. It was all about the red bra. Now, before your mind goes off to some kind of cabernet show 😉 the red bra was what we referred to as our underlying confident bad ass chic who can get through and conquer anything – with a smile, humor and some sass. Our cape if you will.  It was all about just put your red bra on and you can do anything! That feeling of strong confidence and strength to get you through whatever was happening in life – big & small.

Fast forward to January 11, 2018. Have you ever experienced “that feeling” in your GUT and you absolutely knew you had to act on it? That small whisper that just keeps getting louder….Well, it was a combination of that and probably the full, blue moon but after asking myself WHO –  WHO did I want to share this idea of mine with, it only felt right to bring it to the women who it all started with. So, we had a video call, even after one of our members spent part of the evening in the ER with her kiddo (all is well) she still showed up – I knew this was SO right. I poured my heart and what I felt as the mission out and that night, The Red Bra Project was officially in creation. The girls were SO excited and saw the vision immediately. We set a launch date for Feburary 14th, the day that owns the color red – I mean, timing was perfect! But, geeeez, did we have a shit ton to do!

Within four weeks we literally jumped in figuring things out along the way and doing what it took to meet our launch date. Mind you, none of us have ever done many of the things that our vision involved. We created an IG page, website, YouTube channel (and all things YouTube – cover art, thumbnail, and how to stream LIVE from different geographical locations!), content (graphics, show topics for the first few weeks, a logo (this was HUGE!) and confirmed our very first guest. One of our thoughts was that we wanted to use as many “real life” photos as we could to design our IG feed, IG stories, and website.  These are the highlights – however; many little things were happening right alongside that, ha, ha including life! You can definitely get the picture, though.

It has not even been a month yet and I as I write this I am teary eyed at how we all feel so committed to creating something that makes such a positive impact in the world.  Through the tears is a sense of excitement, adrenaline, fear (yes – it is there! I mean we go LIVE on a public space!) and the fact that we are truly figuring out how to do all of this literally as we go. The one thing that we are certain of is: we know we want to create a positive impact and raise others up through their stories, successes and journeys of adversity in a real way. One story can inspire another person at just the right time, but if it is never shared, the power isn’t released. Everyone has a different comfort level and when she is ready to share, we are ready to raise her up, celebrate her and give her a platform to share on.

We are The Red Bra Project, inspiring and supporting women one story at a time.

It does not matter one bit if you are unsure about the HOW – you will figure it out along the way, just get started.
